The U.S. Census Bureau let us know that the bureau was reopening the 2020 Census Field Offices in Alabama effective Wednesday, May 6. The offices are in Huntsville, Birmingham and Mobile but cover the entire state. Staff members and field workers with follow all current health and safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment.

The initial reopening will mean the resumption of three areas at first.

[su_spacer]

  1. Drop-off of 2020 Census invitation packets at front doors of households in areas where mail is received through P.O. Boxes. This process requires no face-to-face interaction, as Census workers will simply leave a packet of bagged information on doorsteps.
  2. Continuation of hiring and training temporary census workers
  3. Assistance with group quarters counts (group homes, homeless shelters, college dorms, nursing homes, etc.)
